I never imagined I’d be back in a classroom in my 30s—let alone falling in love with welding, the very craft I watched my father master during his 43 years at the Georgetown Steel Mill.
This scholarship didn’t just cover costs—it covered doubts. It gave me space to breathe, believe, and fully commit to becoming a skilled welder. Now, I walk into the shop with confidence, knowing I’m not just chasing a career—I’m honoring a legacy.
After the military, I needed a new mission. Welding became that mission. Coaching youth football became my way to give back—to be the kind of mentor I once needed. Every spark in the booth and every moment on the field reminds me: we rise by lifting others.
