Support: Scholarship
Jonathan W.

If you asked people to describe me in one word, they’d say thorough. That focus took me far in telecom. On paper, I was succeeding.
But something was missing.
Two years ago, I followed a quiet tug in my heart and moved to Greenville. That’s when I discovered GTC’s nationally ranked nursing program—and more than that, I found purpose. I wasn’t just switching careers. I was answering a call: to serve, to heal, to give back.
This path is deeply personal. My father was absent, even though he lived just four hours away. My mother carried everything. Her strength shaped mine—and now, I’m determined to break that cycle. For my kids. For the lives I’ll one day touch as a nurse.
Today, I juggle life as a part-time worker, full-time student, and full-time dad. It’s not easy. But scholarships like the one I received remind me: someone sees the fight in me. That belief keeps me going, even on the hardest days.
I don’t know exactly where this road leads, but I know why I’m on it. I want to be a source of strength—for my family, my future patients, and for anyone who’s ever questioned their worth.
If you’re standing at a crossroads, wondering if it’s too late to start over—it’s not. Your past doesn’t disqualify you. It prepares you.
Thank you so much for your generous support. My family and I are deeply grateful for your kindness—it means more than words can express. Your gift is not just financial help; it’s a stepping stone toward my future in medicine and a chance to give back to the community that has uplifted us during this journey. From the bottom of my heart, thank you.”
